2026 MASTENBROEK 20/15 OFFERS IMPROVED PERFORMANCE, COMFORT AND SERVICING FEATURES
Mastenbroek, the UK-based designer and manufacturer of self-propelled drainage and utility trenchers, has unveiled a raft of improvements to its popular 20/15 machine.
Introduced in 1981, the 20/15 is a versatile on-grade sub-surface drainage trencher for agricultural laterals and collectors, and cross-country applications.
The compact and powerful machine has undergone several enhancements over the years, but 2026's upgrade brings a host of new features to the trencher, improving performance, operator experience and servicing access.
Powered by a 315hp Volvo D8 EU Stage 5 and USA EPA Tier 4 Final certified engine, the new 20/15 weighs in at just 20 tonnes and can trench at a depth of up to 2.5m.
Mastenbroek has added a full-length walkway to the machine, providing three-points-of-contact access to the engine fluid housing, the hydraulic cooler with its reversing fan to automatically clean the outside of the screen, and the digging mechanism, which has been strengthened in the latest upgrades.
A second walkway has been installed, allowing people to safely cross the machine and giving easy access to both sides and to and from the cab, which also boasts new features.
Known for its comfort, air conditioning and exceptional visibility, the ROPs-certified cab can be raised half a metre upwards and up to 15cm outwards to give a clear view of the digging mechanism.
The operator controls the machine via joysticks mounted on the heated seat with air suspension chair, with the left-side stick controlling the digging mechanism and the right-side looking after the track drive. A rail-mounted HMI screen, loaded with Mastenbroek's machine control system, enables convenient positioning and easy access to feature controls.
For ease of servicing, tool boxes are conveniently mounted next to the engine and hydraulic bays, accessible through large lockable doors. A further improvement means the entire engine canopy can now be removed when major servicing is required.
“The 20/15 is one of our most successful trenchers with both agricultural and utility contractors depending on it around the world,” says Christopher Pett, Commercial Director at Mastenbroek. “As a company focused on continuous improvement, we’ve listened to the feedback we’ve received from customers and incorporated those requests in this latest version. We’ve also included the enhancements that our in-house software team have developed to give operators the easiest possible access to features and controls.
“The first of the new 20/15s was bought by De Ceusters in Belgium, where, on arrival, it will be sent straight out to work on a drainage scheme.”
