Sink-Control System

When working in extremely unstable ground conditions e.g. waterlogged areas and extremely saturated soils, the trencher will ensure a correct trench depth but due to the weight and the length of some installation boxes, the box cannot keep position on the trench bottom and so the installation of the pipe becomes inaccurate. Despite the laser the final result can be unacceptable and, especially in critical installations such as drainage and sewage-line installation, additional devices are required.

As a result of extensive experience, Mastenbroek has developed an electronic device which regulates the installation angle of the box and keeps this angle in position during trenching by means of a proportional control of some of the hydraulic cylinders.  These cylinders regulate the pressure and depending on the bearing capacity of the trench bottom the trencher will automatically compensate for the weight of the trench box.  In this situation pipes are installed accurately, independent of the soil and water table conditions.
