Deep slurry mixing for improved soil stabilisation for highway and railway construction |
|
Soil improvement by the addition of hydraulic binders to weak soils to improve the load-bearing capacity in earthworks and road building is a well-established procedure. A further area of application is for the stabilisation or remediation of areas with a risk of subsidence. This restores the stability not only of cohesive or loose wearing courses but also of rock weathering zones by the formation of supports. By contrast with soil stabilisation, a similar effect is achieved in road-building by the addition of cement suspensions, which are mixed in situ with the exposed soil and incorporated in earth-concrete supports. |
